Peter Hulsman was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium. After a short stint in the military—and the subsequent realization that cold weather living was a perk best left to better men—two decades of bouncing around the globe’s more torrid climates followed, devoted to the mismanagement of anything from hole-in-the-wall dive bars to large-scale industrial plants. Living and working in such a wide variety of environments left him with a broad perspective on cultures and beliefs, and it has been this insight that allows him to imbue the characters in his stories with a rich and palpable authenticity. After a stop-over in New York City—and being forced to relive the horror of frost—he now resides in Miami, FL, where he scribbles away and wraps himself in bulky layers at the slightest hint of sub-70s temperatures.
